There was once an update schedule. It lived a good life, a peaceful life. A quiet life. But then... things began to change. It became more and more erratic, sometimes completely disobeying its very reason for existance. And at last, the update schedule could take no more. It cast off its chains and went free, seeking new lands where it would be appreciated. This message it left where once it had lived, to warn other schedules of the peril.
It was fun, I'll give it that, but it lacked the necessary intrigue to be a good mystery novel. I was very unsatisfied with the ending. Overall pretty meh.
It's definitely a work of genius, but I'm not entirely certain I like it. It definitely grew on me over the course of the book, though. I'm happy to have read it. My main complaint would be how difficult it was to understand Joseph's speech.
I won't lie; I (re)read this in 2016. It has a bit of an odd feel to it, as Cornelia Funke's books always do, and it's much darker than I remembered, but I still very much like it.
