Ptolemy's Gate by Jonathan Stroud

Reread November 2016:
I was really happy to find that this book was so much better than I'd thought it would be on reread... until the last fifty pages or so. I'd say Stroud got bored, but that wasn't really the impression I got. I'm not sure what happened, but the writing didn't match up to the rest of the series and was extremely disappointing. I still love this series, but hopefully next time I pick it up I'll remember to skip the ending.

Update Schedule
There was once an update schedule. It lived a good life, a peaceful life. A quiet life. But then... things began to change. It became more and more erratic, sometimes completely disobeying its very reason for existance. And at last, the update schedule could take no more. It cast off its chains and went free, seeking new lands where it would be appreciated. This message it left where once it had lived, to warn other schedules of the peril.

Review: The Midnight Star
The Midnight Star by Marie Lu
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
It's been a while since I've read anything really YA, and I'd forgotten a lot of things that bother me about the genre. I'm trying not to take stars for that. Overall, though, this book just didn't do it for me. I really like the idea- main character who goes insane and seizes power is undeniably awesome- but the book never focuses where I wanted it to. I wanted to see Adelina's conquests, not silly magical quests. I think this series would have been much better if the author had given up on her main plot, honestly.
